This is a favourite area for Practice Bicycle and I’m sure it will be a favourite for you also as we pedal ahead of the race peloton over some of the flatter roads and nearby Lac Bourget. These are superb roads often used by the French Pro Tour Team AG2R for their training rides. We will watch the action from the roadside, at our unique live viewing spot, the perfect location to admire the very best cyclists in the world in full flight! Today we head north from Lake Annecy and the picturesque undulating rural roads of country France, our destination the Criterium du Dauphine Stage 7 Depart (Start). This is a perfect opportunity to see the stars of professional cycling before they begin a difficult day of racing, time when many riders are approachable for a friendly photo, you may just find them sitting and taking a café before “Go”. The Dauphine is a very unique sporting event in that the very best cyclists in the world are easily accessible to the public, which is often not possible one month later in July at the Tour de France. Once we have watched the stage start and the race peloton has “departed”, we will discover lunch together at another of PRACTICEBICYCLE’s favourite restaurants of the area.

It’s our turn for some action as we ride the famous Col des Saisies (1650m/cat 1) which has been a part of the Tour de France route on 9 occasions in the past, the last time in 2010. The Criterium du Dauphine professional peloton will be fired up for this huge mountain stage and we will join them on the roadside before the summit of Col des Saisies – 13.4km, average 5.2% for your unique “Live viewing spot”.
