Today is the first of the two decisive summit finishes at the Volta Algarve 2016 and where the General Classification contenders will show their climbing prowess on the final climb to the finish line at Foia (902m). This will be a golden opportunity for some of the stars of the TDF to compare their early season form after their short winter break and possibly only a couple of months training.
We will enjoy our day on the Sierra Monchique at a more comfortable pace as we view the race peloton early and then take on the first of our climbing steps amongst the forest plantations and spectacular views as we head to the town of Monchique. The final climb to Foia is worth the effort and every pedal stroke with views on a clear day to the Northern region of Alentejano and Lisbon.
