Algarve Bike Tour Day 4 – How do Practice Bicycle find these roads?
Let’s go deep into the ‘past’ imagine what it would have been like 50 years ago! We take our time…because that’s what it deserves amongst this land where time has slowed down!.
See for yourself the ‘real Portugal’ in the Algarvian village of Odiáxere it’s our first ride destination this morning; a good opportunity for a ‘nata & bica’. “Where are you guys from” we are asked as we mingle amongst the locals in their quaint, square in the middle of nowhere…
The Beach is calling us, we are coming (or pedalling) the winds pick up as we pass by the giant wind turbines only adding to the contrast of the natural Algarve.
With the sun brightening, just over the crest is the Moorish town of Aljezur with its small castle – ‘castello’ perched on the hill top we can almost smell the Atlantic Ocean now, with one final effort the legs might be wishing to stop we are greeted with WOW!
How did you find this? Just another of Practice Bicycle’s little secrets, it can be yours too
This beach side hamlet is bubbling with cyclists, we’ve arrived! It’s time to savour lunch with prato do dia, relax, enjoy the view “what a day what a ride, this is simply spectacular”!
Algarve Bike Tour Day 5 – When you’ve made it to Sagres…who wants to pedal to the Lighthouse?
Our ride to the edge of the world, well the most south westerly point of Europe to be more accurate!
Exploring on the Algarve Bike Tour in all directions makes any visit totally amazing as we head to Cape St Vincent. It’s an undulating ride… with a little gem to discover on route – Burgau, we could sit in this village all day, the beach all to yourself, whitewashed buildings, hidden alleyways, just delightful, but the delight doesn’t stop there we are spoilt with local pottery, linen shops and magnificent landmarks…
With endless views of the cliffs meeting the ocean we have arrived at the end of Europe it must be Sagres!
As you can imagine blustering winds blow on the peninsula and we will be hoping for a calm day in search of our idyllic lunch spot at one of our favourite quaint typical coastal villages.
Algarvian rose or a cold sagres (yes it’s also the name of the best beer in Portugal) waiting for you, time for steak Portuguese style & cataplana..Yum

Say ‘bon dia’ to one of the hard working ladies of the land at her famous ‘Praia da Rocha’ market stand, a bag of her Algarve’s finest almonds waiting to be devoured on your journey home.
One last adventure on the quiet roads of the Algarve takes us into the folds of this fabulous cycling landscape and on to our choice climb of the day winding amongst the forest plantations and spectacular views to the coast far below.
Once on the ‘shelf’ as we like to call it, relax and enjoy the views of the coastline one more time before we head towards one of the Algarve’s loveliest little fishing villages – Alvor,
Not only the perfect lunch spot, also a great place to end your fabulous cycling week in the Algarve Portugal..
