The week we spent in the Algarve with Practice Bicycle Tours, Paul and Bridget was an unforgettable adventure. Riding through the Algarve is a treasure you must all experience. The different scenery around every corner is amazing from the storks nests to the little farmers market gardens right up to the beautiful ocean views. The ride up to Aljezur was the most challenging yet most rewarding and this whole experience will be one we will never forget. As hosts to Non Cyclists they were second to none. The sightseeing, pottery visits, orange grove experience, the coffee stops with the pastel de natas and the amazing lunches where we joined our partners eating fresh seafood, the black beer and the jugs of sangria, we will long remember.

It’s undulating terrain following the coastline with a great café stop on route at one of our favorite quaint coastal villages, full of whitewashed buildings and incredible views.
This area is also the nesting home of many native birds including the giant gliders in the sky the storks with their huge nests precariously built on treetops, power lines and roof tops.
As you can imagine strong winds blow on the peninsula and we will be hoping for a calm day in search of our idyllic lunch at the tip of Europe. Once you arrive in Sagres it feels like you have ridden off the edge of Europe with the dramatic views and sounds of the cliffs meeting the Atlantic Ocean, it’s time to relax!

I am a 69-year-old cyclist with medium capabilities. I was a little apprehensive that there would be younger more proficient riders in the group, and I would have trouble keeping up. As a single guest wishing to participate on this trip, I was not sure how the week would take place, my partner joined me, but she didn’t ride. However, it turned out that because of changes to other people’s plans I ended up the only rider on this trip. I was pleasantly surprised that Paul and Bridget were prepared to continue with the advertised trip week for just me. It was beyond my wildest dreams to be riding with a professional coach and cyclist. They were great companions to ride with and generous with their riding skills tips. I loved the ride routes that were through great landscapes and interesting villages and towns. Each day’s ride was different, some flattish, others undulating and a couple with challenging climbs. I also enjoyed every day’s lunch spots – a delicious example of local cuisine. We had many long conversations about all things nature, riding, landscapes over lunch. Thank you, Paul and Bridget.
